The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs (OVPFA) is a central faculty resource dedicated to supporting faculty in their development and success. The Office is committed to ensuring a positive, meaningful and enriching faculty experience. It works to continuously improve the satisfaction and growth of all full-time and part-time faculty on different types of appointment.
The OVPFA is comprised of 2 organizational units that work closely together: Faculty Affairs, and the Center for the Advancement of Teaching (CAT). Faculty Affairs oversees faculty appointments, tenure and promotion, activity reporting, awards, leaves, and retirements, and other events during the life course of a faculty member. It also maintains integral faculty data, reporting, records and systems.
CAT provides resources, consultations, training and programming designed to help faculty grow professionally and achieve excellence through evidence-based practices. CAT’s programming on pedagogy, instructional technology, online learning, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is informed by the latest in evidence and thought leadership from across the country and globally.
Both CAT and Faculty Affairs work with individual faculty, departments, schools/colleges and central offices to advance a holistic approach to faculty success and the faculty experience in all areas of teaching and learning, research, scholarship and creative activity.
