Philadelphia

Temple’s main and health sciences campuses are in Philadelphia, one of the largest cities in the United States. Philadelphia is a fantastic place to study, work and play. From its wealth of history to its renowned museums, from its bustling urban life to its famous cuisine, leisure and sports activities, Philadelphia offers something for everyone.

New Faculty Orientation

Every August, prior to the start of the fall semester, the Office of Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs (OVPFA) hosts a day-long New Faculty Orientation for all faculty either new to Temple or in new faculty roles from the main and health sciences campuses. The goal of the Orientation is to foster community and networking, to educate our new faculty on the wide range of resources, services and enrichments available to them throughout their careers, and to engage them in conversations about teaching Temple students.

Representatives of a variety of central units attend the orientation and provide access to resources and tools in areas such as health and wellness, information technology services, research and grant support, student support services, athletics, and libraries. The staff from the Center for the Advancement of Teaching (CAT) facilitates hands-on professional development on effective pedagogical techniques and evidence-based teaching practices.
